3 Mason Jar Dessert Ideas for the Holidays

I am a BIG fan of DIY gifts during the holiday season. Partly because I never ever have the money to just BUY everyone gifts, but also partly because it gives me such a great reason to put my crafting habit (and supplies) to good use! I still have a dozen jelly jars from past mason jar projects that I want to use for this upcoming season, so I found a few people who served amazing desserts in them and am going to give their ideas a try!

Cherry Pie in a Jar

The first idea comes from Food Allergy Eats and is easily my favorite, though I’d definitely be swapping out cherry (which is much easier and probably prettier) for my Gram’s famous apple (which is more time consuming but oh so delicious – and sorry, it’s a secret family recipe!). That way, I can give a little piece of home to each person we visit for the holiday without the hassle of making half a dozen pies in advance, freezing them, having them defrost on the train ride home and then leak apple cinnamon drizzle all over my legs and boots, leaving me horribly sticky for three hours. Yes, yes that happened. I can’t wait to give this one a try!

No-Bake Salted Caramel Cheesecake in a Jar

This one sounds so decadent! Plus the fact that every year I spend an entire day (seriously, at least 13 hours is devoted) to making my apple cider salted caramels, this no-bake version that includes cheesecake and is in a jar sounds amazing! I’d probably make them apple cider salted caramel cheesecakes though, just to follow my theme. Brit+Co got it right when they tried out this project!

Banana Bread in a Jar

This idea may not be as beautiful as the last two, but it’s the Husband’s favorite! I swear he purposely doesn’t eat his bananas in time so that they begin to go brown and I am forced to make him banana bread. He loves it so much! I also have a fantastic recipe for this, and this one isn’t as secret! I’ll share the recipe with you sometime next week. In the meantime, check out this wonderful favor idea from Intimate Weddings!

Which idea do you like the best? What other desserts in jars can I make?
