Project: 30-Minute Arm Knit Infinity Scarf
I have recently learned to…. KNIT! It’s very exciting for me, because I’ve been a self-taught crocheter for about ten years but never so much as picked up knitting needles. Even though every Thursday evening for the last 7-8 months, I’ve gone to a Knitting Group. I know. How could I wait that long to learn? Well, I had a lot of projects to crochet first!
Finally, when the rush of holiday projects was over, my friend Christine told me it was TIME to learn to knit! She taught me a couple basics and I’m in the midst of my first project right now. Because I was so excited to learn, I thought I’d try to tackle arm knitting (which previously scared me) and this was the result!
I love this scarf so much! It’s made with just two skeins of chunky/bulky yarn and your arms, so the materials needed to make it are few. I tried several tutorials that I just didn’t quite get until I found this awesome one by Handimania. It was very easy to follow and within a half hour I had my favorite scarf to date! Check out their video below and try it out! It’s the perfect weekend project, since it takes less than an hour. 😉
The photo I took may look like a small-ish infinity cowl, but it’s not at all. It’s very long! But I like it that way. It’s pretty awesome. I encourage you to give arm knitting a go. If you do, share pics in the comments of your projects! I’d love to see them!
Awesome tutorial, Katie, thank you for sharing! In just 30 minutes we could make a great gift 😉
Thank you!
Awesome! Your scarf looks incredible! I definitely need to give this a try, just need to find 30 minutes!
Send pics if you make one!
Nice scarf! I like the different yarns you used.
I can’t crochet OR knit, so you’re way ahead of me, even if you waited 7-8 months to start. =0)
It was actually all one yarn! It came that way! Isn’t it cool? 🙂
I love arm knitting! It’s so easy, anyone can do it! The scarf looks beautiful though, it’s the perfect chunky knit! #cuticlepengiveaway
Thanks Rachel!
