Wordless Wednesday: Festivals
It is once again festival season here in Philadelphia! Yay! I so love a good festival.
This past Saturday, Husband and I headed to Rittenhouse Row Spring Fest, which used to be my favoritest of the festivals. This year was different though. Instead of tons of vendors selling foods and crafts and beer and cocktails, it was mostly advertisers! A tent selling internet. Three different bank tents. A half dozen gym-type tents selling memberships. Additionally, there were a fraction of the vendors that there usually are. Bummer. We still had a good time though!
From there, we wandered over to Headhouse South Street Maifest, where there were BLOCKS of drinking around a maypole, tons of food carts and vendors, and a generally better vibe (albeit way more crowded!) than the first festival. Of course, at that point we’d been walking around for hours already and we were hot and tired, so we walked through it to check it all out but didn’t stay. I did manage to snap the pic above, though! If this festival is held on the same day as others again next year, I’ll know to start here! (Plus, it’s way closer to my new house, so that makes it a big plus!)
This coming weekend is Art Star Craft Bazaar at Penn’s Landing, which we also go to every Mother’s Day weekend. It is filled with tons of talented artisans and their handmade crafts- so I obviously love it!
Are there any festivals or fun things you look forward to in your town every year?
Wow! So many people! It looks like a good one if you decide to sign up as a vendor. And why not?
If I could afford any of the vendor tents at one of these festivals, believe me, I would! They are all waaaaaaay too much money for me, though! 🙁
Vendors are what make festivals even more awesome. That’s a bummer that it was mostly advertisers this year. Maybe they’ll bring back more vendors for next year.
The Art Star Craft Bazaar sounds great.
I used to sell at all kinds of festivals and craft fairs with my mom when I was a kid. It was always so much fun.
Sounds fun! I wish I could do it now! I just don’t have the funds for an application fee, tent rental, etc. though :/
I hear ya on all those fees, that’s why we don’t do any festivals or fairs. We’ve only ever done one, and it was also a fundraiser (so that doesn’t really count).
Oh my gosh the vendors at festivals can get me in trouble, haha. I love seeing everyone’s craft on display, and I always want to buy more than I can afford! #cuticlepengiveaway
How fun! We were in Virginia last weekend and stumbled upon the Art at the River Show in Yorktown.
Awesome! Hope you share some pics soon! 🙂
